The Sharps Redmore cricket team brought home the Acoustics Challenge Trophy this year with victory over SRL at Long Melford Cricket Club in Suffolk. The trophy was regained after a low scoring match.
As many of the team were involved as possible with some tight bowling and fielding which restricted SRL to 105 off their allotted 25 overs. The weather was fine and warm and the sun continued to shine on Sharps Redmore batsmen who passed the target with some 7 overs to go with the loss of only one wicket, to win by 9 wickets with the winning runs hit in style by Dan Kinsman in the form of a 6 over mid-wicket .
As ever, good sportsmanship, an excellent atmosphere and an opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces was the order of the day.
Man of the match, awarded by the umpires, also went to Sharps Redmore and Stephen Jay for his fine all round performance. As is traditional, a cheque was presented to the winners by SRL for a donation to the winners charity of choice, which this year was the mental health charity, MIND.
Next year’s fixture returns to Copdock and the opportunity for another competitive and enjoyable afternoon.
