Emily Brown and Stephen Jay recently undertook the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control at London South Bank University. This course is studied on a part-time basis, over a 1 year period. They successfully completed the various compulsory modules, and the Building Acoustics, and the Noise Control and Vibration Engineering elective modules. The Project module, usually undertaken over the spring and summer, is intended to demonstrate the ability to use and apply the skills and knowledge gained in the other modules, to solve an acoustics problem including a research element. The IOA Diploma can be used as evidence towards the Associate membership of the IOA.
Michael Jenkins was also successful at completing the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurements at Southampton Solent University. Candidates are provided with a basic knowledge of the methodology of environmental noise measurement, including the use and accuracy requirements of sound level meters and analysers and to enable awareness of the significance of measurement data against the framework of standards and legislation for environmental noise. This course can be used as evidence towards the Technician membership of the IOA.
Details of the professional courses that the IOA offer can be found here.
