Jason Murfitt specialises mainly in environmental noise and vibration. He has particular experience in planning noise issues and environmental impact assessment work relating to various noise sources including roads, railways, construction sites, commercial developments and industrial premises.

Jason obtained a degree in Electro acoustics from Salford University in 1990 and has been a full member of the Institute of Acoustics for over 15 years.

After 18 months working for the Environmental Health department of Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council, Jason moved into acoustic consultancy and spent 7 years working for WS Atkins Noise and Vibration and then over 4 years working for Arup Acoustics. The majority of his time with Arup Acoustics was spent on secondment to the Noise and Vibration team at Rail Link Engineering, the designers and project managers for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link project. There he had particular responsibility for the section of the route tunneling under London which included the large construction site for Stratford Station and 6 bored tunnels, liaising and consulting with civil engineering contractors and local authorities regarding construction noise issues.

Jason joined Sharps Redmore in September 2004 and has spent the majority of his time since then looking at planning related noise issues for various proposed commercial and residential developments. He has experience of giving expert evidence at Planning Hearings and Public Inquiries.
