BEng (Hons) MIOA
Having acquired his secondary education at a performing arts and international languages high school in Las Vegas, USA, David came back to the UK and undertook an access course in humanities from West Suffolk College. This allowed him to go on and complete an honours degree in Aerospace Systems Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire.
David has undertaken a wide variety jobs both before and during his higher education studies; his first job was in the states where he was a cleaner for commercial and retail units. In the UK, he started as a waiter for a number of years and subsequently worked in retail, as a lifeguard and progressing as a sports hall manager in a public boarding school in Cambridge. David undertook an industrial placement year working within the acoustics department at Airbus in Toulouse, France. Upon completion of his degree, David worked for several years at a large independent acoustic consultancy based in the Southeast. He briefly left the acoustic realm to work for an engineering consultancy dealing with passenger aircraft safety, only to return to another independent acoustic consultant, this time working in the South of France for two years on a railroad project. David joined Sharps Redmore in 2013, upon returning to the UK permanently.
David has a broad experience in both architectural/building and environmental acoustics. Not necessarily wishing to specialise in any one particular domain, he has extensive experience working with projects ranging in all sizes, from small single dwelling apartments through to large scale multi-billion pound mixed-use redevelopments in London. During his time at Sharps Redmore, David has gained extensive experience in vibration and re-radiated noise acoustics; ranging from underground/overground train impact, to gym units in mixed use developments, through to hyper-sensitive/specialised university electron microscopy equipment and microchip manufacturing facilities.
David is bilingual in French/English and travelled considerably during his childhood, having lived in France, Mexico, the USA and the UK. He has spent all of his adult life simultaneously juggling work, studies, raising a family of three kids and most recently taken on a further two young stepsons. This clearly doesn’t leave him with much individual time, but when this happens, he likes to mountain bike, watch films/TV series and a few times a year to recharge at a spa with his better half.
