Michael completed A-levels in PE, Biology and English Literature before studying Sports Science and Coaching at the University of Bedfordshire, graduating with a 2:1 in 2014.
Michael began working as a crew on his Dad’s fishing boat in the Isles of Scilly aged sixteen, before working during long summer holidays at home from university as crew on a local passenger ferry. After completing his degree, he worked as a PE Teaching Assistant in a primary school in Barnstaple. After a year working in the school, Michael returned home to Scilly for the summer to work as a painter and decorator before spending the winter months travelling. Upon his return to Scilly, Michael worked for a local haulage company before moving to Suffolk and joining Sharps Redmore in 2016.
The combination of Michael’s scientific background and interest in sound and acoustics attracted him to his current role at Sharps Redmore, where he is gaining as much knowledge and experience as possible by taking part in environmental noise surveys and sound insulation testing.
Michael is a keen sportsman and enjoys playing or watching virtually all sports. Since moving to Bury St Edmunds, weekends have been spent playing for the local rugby club and exploring the area by going on walks in the Suffolk countryside with his girlfriend. Michael is also looking forward to being able to enjoy the benefits of living on ‘the mainland’ by being able to attend sport and music events that are in short supply on Scilly!
