Emma Brown
BSc (Hons)
Graduate Consultant
Background & Education
Music and sound have been an integral part of Emma’s life for as long as she can remember. Following her passion, Emma achieved a college diploma in Music Production and Technology before going on to study at Anglia Ruskin University, where she received a first in her degree in BSc (Hons) Audio and Music Technology.
Whilst at university, Emma threw herself into her studies, leading a podcast society in her first and second years. This led her to do a podcast interview with Sharps Redmore’s very own Nick Durup and receive the “Sharps Redmore Acoustics Award 2022” for her work on her acoustics module at ARU. This kick-started Emma’s journey to joining the company, where she is now a Graduate Acoustic Consultant.
Upon Graduation, Emma also received the “JAMES Outstanding Achievement Award” for her work in her final year of university.
Work History
Emma’s work history ranges from being a waitress, to an H&M sales assistant and for most of her university life, a team leader at a Co-Operative food in Cambridge. In this role, Emma enjoyed working within a team and speaking to new people on a daily basis, something she carries forward with her into her career in acoustics.
Outside of work, Emma also writes part time for music journalism websites, and enjoys connecting with the music community through this medium.
Work Experience
During her time at university, Emma became fascinated by the soundscapes of our natural and man-made environments and spent time reading books on the subject. Emma has even visited one of the natural acoustic soundscapes of the world- Luray Caverns in VA, USA, which Emma sees as a defining moment in her acoustic career.
Plus
Outside of work, Emma spends her time trying to improve upon her dozens of hobbies. Whether it be playing guitar, running, Pilates, painting, crochet, going to the gym, baking, reading, or something else… Emma tends to keep busy, trying new things or expanding on her skills.
