Ryan Jordan

Education

Ryan studied Music Technology at Colchester Institute, Sonic Arts at Middlesex University, and Computational Studio Arts at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Work History

Since the early 2000’s Ryan has been an artist, curator and organiser working internationally in the areas of noise and experimental music, computational and electronic arts, and live audio-visual performance events. He has been a Visiting Researcher at IXDM, Critical Media Lab, Basel, Switzerland and Assistant Lecturer at the School of Creative Media, City University, Hong Kong and the Music Technology and Innovation Research Centre, DeMontfort University, Leicester. Some of his writings have been published in the Leonardo Music Journal, MIT Press, amongst others.

He has also worked as an arborist, gardener and labourer.

Work Experience

Ryan’s education and work experience have provided transferable skills ideally suited to build a career within the acoustics and noise profession. His artistic work has used electronics, sensors, software, minerals, noise, sound systems, live sound, acoustics and psychoacoustics. His live performances, workshops and exhibitions have been shown on numerous occasions internationally at places such as Subtle Technologies, Canada; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, USA; Sonic Protest Festival, France; Oficinas do Convento, Portugal; and Supersonic Festival, UK.

Working for Sharps Redmore has enabled him to build on his previous experience and learn new practical skills and knowledge to apply and contribute into the field of acoustics.

Outside of work Ryan spends his time organising noise and experimental music events and making artworks in his studio. He also enjoys reading and keeping physically active.
