Matt Hayes
BSc(Hons) AMIOA
Acoustic Consultant
Education
Matt studied Audio & Music Technology at Anglia Ruskin University. During his studies, he became fascinated by acoustics which was then added to by a guest lecture from Sharps Redmore’s very own Nick Durup. Matt completed the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control in 2021/22 at London South Bank University.
Work History
Matt spent the majority of his early career in the charity sector, working for Braintree & Uttlesford District Special Needs Playscheme, Braintree District Mencap Society, and later moving into charity leadership as President of ARU Students’ Union. Matt joined Sharps Redmore in 2021 to turn his fascination of acoustics into fully-fledged career.
Work Experience
Matt’s degree touched the surface of acoustics and sparked an interest for him which he is now able to pursue here at Sharps Redmore and expand his knowledge and experience of the industry. Matt’s IOA Diploma final project was focused on schools for young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The project was nominated for the NTi Prize for best final project in his cohort.
Plus
When he’s not in the office, Matt can either be found in his home recording studio playing with guitars and synthesisers, or outside in the fresh air throwing a rugby ball around for his local club, Bury St. Edmunds Rovers.
